Kaspersky Anti-virus 2014 offers a new dual-cloud security system, as well as a local security system that comes packaged with a new interface that has been revamped in order to make it easier to use, while remaining familiar to loyal customers. The system scans are not the fastest in the industry, but it will provide you with ample security for your computer systems.
Kaspersky Anti-virus 2014 offers customers several security tools that other anti-virus software developers exclude from their products. It remains one of the best-selling programs on the market and enjoys a loyal customer base.
Previous customers of Kaspersky Anti-virus 2011 will enjoy the new download and installation process of the newer 2014 version. The 2014 version offers a smoother and hassle-free installation procedure; however the software did not demand a reboot once the installation had been completed, requiring a manual reboot to be performed before the registration of the program would be accepted.
The New Interface
Kaspersky Anti-virus 2014 retains the green, white and grey theme from previous editions; however everything else is new. The 2014 version has a new app drawer based design which presents your computer's security status at the top. The four major security features; Scanning, Parental Controls, Updating and access to Tools are located at the bottom. A button located at the top of the interface allows customers to become more familiar with Kaspersky's Cloud Protection features. You can also opt-out of the Cloud protection services and still remain just as safe with the local based security the program has to offer. There are a few drawbacks to Kaspersky Anti-virus 2014. One being that the tool button layout is locked down, unlike some of its competitors which allow you to adjust these features to your specifications, and the other being that the icons used on the left hand tabs of the Settings window are not very easily interpreted and will require some getting used to. Aside from those two issues the program was very easy to navigate and understand. There was no lag present when switching between screens while using the program.
The Bells, Whistles & Customer Support
The biggest addition to Kaspersky Anti-virus 2014 is the cloud based detection portion of the software. The Cloud Protection offered with this suite is designed to reduce the amount of data stored on your computer system, while providing customers faster and more up-to-date security. The new File Advisor feature allows users to check the authenticity of a file without having to access the full program. The System Watcher, which was introduced last year, returns to this year's version. Another feature returning in this year's model is the Roll Back, similar to a Restore Point, this allows users to return their computers to a previous state prior to the point the virus infected your computer. A Network monitor feature displays real-time results for all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic. There is also an Internet Explorer analyzer which provides information about any threats this particular web browser may have. There's also a virtual keyboard available for customers concerned about the possibility of keyloggers having been installed on a system. The Critical Areas and Vulnerability Scans are also available to complement the Full Scan option, allowing customers to perform a quicker scan of specific areas of concern without having to sit through an entire System Scan.
